New EU proposals on Capital Adequacy

Resources Compliance has issued a bulletin following publication by the European Union os plans to amend the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD) to impose changes on the regulations governing bank lending.

The consultation contains some proposals of a technical nature which have been covered by separate comitology measures.

The key revisions cover the following areas:

• large exposures - to be restricted;
• proposals covering the supervision of cross border groups, including the establishment of colleges of supervisors;
• the quality of banks' capital;
• liquidity risk management; and
• improving risk management for securitisation products.
